WPT Prime Taiwan – 1,470 Entries, Prize Pool Over TWD 45 Million

This year’s WPT Prime Taiwan set new benchmarks for the tour in Asia. The TWD 35,000 (~US$1,025) buy-in drew a staggering 1,470 entries, generating a prize pool of TWD 45,343,700 (~US$1.51 million). The sheer turnout and prize fund positioned the event among the largest WPT Prime stops ever held in the region.

Final Table Drama – Lee Outlasts the Field

After four days of intense play, the final table began with six contenders, each battling for the top prize and a place in poker history.

  • Lee entered the day with a commanding 65 big blinds.
  • Ting Wei Li followed with 40 big blinds, while Man Woo Park made an early statement, scooping an 82 big blind pot with pocket queens against Lee’s pocket tens.
  • Pak Kwan “Justin” Chan, starting with 23 big blinds, laddered up when Youngjong Lee fell. Both players flopped trip kings, but Li’s ace kicker sealed Youngjong’s elimination.
  • As the first break arrived, Ci Hong Ho led the pack, with Li close behind, while Park sat mid-stacked. Lee and Chan, both under 15 big blinds, looked vulnerable. Chan briefly doubled through Ho but was later eliminated when his ace-queen lost to Lee’s ace-king. Ho finished the job soon after.
  • Down to four players, Park’s run ended on the 45th hand as Ho flopped a set of nines against his ace-jack.

Three-handed play turned into Lee’s comeback story. He doubled through Li twice before hitting a dramatic three-outer to eliminate him, securing his place in the heads-up finale against Ho.

A♠ Seals the Championship

The duel with Ho started in his opponent’s favor after a flopped flush, but Lee regained control by stringing together a series of timely pots.

The decisive hand came on a 6♥–4♠–3♠ flop. Ho pushed with J♦–5♦ for an open-ended straight draw, while Lee held K♠–10♠ for a flush draw. The turn brought the A♠, completing Lee’s flush and ending the contest.

With the victory, Hyundong Lee earned TWD 6,038,460 (~US$212,005) and secured a $10,400 seat to the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, where he will now take his shot on one of poker’s grandest stages.
